Industrial-Enterprise

Enterprise-class switches are the norm for large business networks. These are the switches that you find in server rooms everywhere. They have advanced networking and software features designed for large applications (such as from Cisco, 3COM, HP, etc.). However, they are not industrial rated so they are not suitable for industrial applications.

Industrial-grade switches are designed to operate in extreme conditions where commercial switches would fail. In the past these applications did not require Enterprise-class features. However, as industrial networks become larger and more complex the need for more advanced networking and security continues to grow.

Introducing Industrial-Enterprise: The EL228 combines the advanced networking features of an Enterprise-class switch with the extreme ruggedness of a Sixnet industrial switch to make the ideal solution for today's and future industrial applications.

KEMA tested and approved per the IEC 61850 and IEEE 1613 standards, considered by many to be a requirement for equipment to be used in power substations. The KEMA approval proves that the equipment meets the stated requirements and is suitable for the application. KEMA has tested the EL228 against the IEC 61850-3 and IEEE 1613 standards which includes some of the toughest industrial requirements for EMI, RFI, ESD temperature, shock, vibrations and more. The EL228 has met or exceeded all the tests performed. All this at the lowest total cost of ownership for any industrial switch in its class!
